Educating Orphans in Uganda 🇺🇬

For the past 2 summers I've traveled to Uganda to help take care of orphans & cast vision for future community improvements. They are life-changing trips that make you grateful for the many privileges that come with living in a developed country - such as running water, medical clinics, and public education.

Differently than the U.S., the education system in Uganda is primarily funded privately - meaning that families must regularly pay tuition. School for one child costs about $50 USD per month, but the average monthly income is only $250 USD.

When women are averaging 5.4 children each, there is often little opportunity for children to be sent to school. Less than 1 in 10 children in Uganda receive a formal education - many of them instead supporting their family by working, doing household chores, or watching siblings during the day. Ensuring children have access to education creates opportunity and leads to futher development of the country.

15% of every order at Sprout & Shine is donated towards an education fund for orphaned children in Fort Portal, Uganda. Thank you for joining us in our efforts to invest in the future of vulnerable children!! ☀️
